Department of Primary Unknown and Rare Cancers

Department of Primary Unknown / Rare Cancers is responsible for the treatment with antineoplastic drugs (anticancer drugs) on patients with recurrence mainly after surgical resection, or patients who are not indicated for surgical resection due to distant metastasis or major organ infiltration. Aiming at cross-sectional medical care on organs, and in cooperation with related in-hospital departments, we practice medical examination for head and neck cancer, osteosarcoma / soft tissue sarcoma, and gynecological cancer etc. including respiratory cancer, gastrointestinal cancer, and breast cancer. Unknown primary cancers and rare malignant tumors are also included in the clinical care. Recently, when providing cancer care, it is required to reduce the pain accompanying cancer and provide mental support at the same time. In our department, we have regular conferences with Department of Palliative Medicine or Psycho-oncology, and we make efforts to provide holistic cancer care.
