Department of Pediatric Surgery is responsible for surgical treatment of organs except brain / heart / bone from neonate to school children until 15 years old. In this department, from the standpoint of supporting other pediatric departments, we mostly provide treatment for pediatric surgical diseases with mainly underlying cardiac disease, and treatment of severe pediatric surgical disease that no hospitals other than our hospital in the area could save, centering on surgical treatment in pediatric solid tumor.
Director, Odaka is also concurrently serving as an outpatient clinic manager of Pediatric Surgery of Saitama Medical University Hospital, and he provides medical treatment cooperating with the department of pediatrics of the university hospital and it is possible to respond to any pediatric disease.
Diseases encountered during treatment of pediatric heart disease:
Gastroesophageal reflux disease, esophageal hiatal hernia, (neonatal) gastrointestinal perforation, gastrointestinal bleeding (upper / lower), diaphragmatic diseases, airway disorder, congenital pulmonary cyst, acute abdomen, etc.
Pediatric tumor:
Pediatric solid tumor such as neuroblastoma, nephroblastoma, hepatoblastoma, germ cell tumor, rhabdomyosarcoma, distant metastases such as bone soft tissue tumor (lung / liver), etc. Tissue biopsy for diagnosis of leukemia and malignant lymphoma, catheter indwelling for treatment
Pediatric trauma:
Chest trauma, abdominal and pelvic trauma, etc.
